Every day is a busy day, in Year 5, and today was no different. We had the extrememly difficuly task of chosing our new School Council representatives. All of our candidates had prepared well and presented their reasons explaining and persuading us to vote for them. There were some excellent Powerpoint presentations and speeches, making it a very tough choice. Following this, we all made our way to the voting booths and placed our votes in the ballot box. Watch this space to find out who we elected as our Year 5 representatives.

I'm so impressed by the number of people wanting to represent their class on the school council. The presentations look impressive. I'm sure it will have been a tough choice for everyone in the class. We'll find out who was successful tomorrow.

I'm so excited to see who is going to win. I'll not be upset if I don't get in though. I like to see the others who have made it feel exceptionally proud.

Welcome to Year 5's blog at Tanfield Lea Community Primary School, a primary school in County Durham who want to broaden our horizons and to show the world what we have to offer.
Our September topic will be 'The Normans', looking at the history of the Norman periods and what we can learn about that time period using primary and secondary sources.
Our literacy will be based on the book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian which takes place during the Second World War.
