Today we have been finding out about ratios and looking for them in packets of sweets.
Team point challenge:
What ratios can you see in my bag of sweets?
Extra team points if you can tell me how many sweets I would have if I had 5 bags!

More ratios to come next week Rachel! Glad to see your positive attitude again.
Lucy, you have the right number of eggs for 5 bags but double check the number of rings (remember it will be 5 x the amount in 1 bag)

It's amazing what Maths you can get out of Haribos - clearly it has been a great motivator. What happened to them in the end I wonder, after all that great concentration!!

Superb Rachel! I can see that you fully understand how to find the ratios in my packet of Haribos and that you are able to use your times tables knowledge to work out the quantities in multiple packets.
Here is a question or two for you to solve:
Question 1:
If I have 180 eggs and 120 rings, how many bags do I have?
Question 2:
How many bags would I need to have 240 green bears and 160 rings?
Rachel

In 60 bags you would have 180 eggs: 120 rings
You would need 80 bags for 240 green bears and 160 rings

Fantastic Rachel! Have a go at the percentage question if you can. Think about what fraction you have for each sweet type and then convert to a percentage :-)

Rachel, if you manage to answer the questions in my first reply, try this one as well.
There are 10 sweets in my bag.
So...
Can you tell me what percentage are eggs?
What percentage are rings?
What percentage are cola bottles?
What percentage are green bears?
And what percentage are yellow bears?
Have fun :-)
Rachel

Mr Patterson I don't quite get it I'm not to sure of how to do it to be honest. But I think it's like 30% for eggs,
Maybe 20% for rings! I also think it might be 10% for cola bottles, green bears is 30% and yellow bears are 10% I hope I got them right because I thought it was a bit difficult.
Mr Patterson

That's exactly It Rachel! Well done! By finding the fraction first, you can the convert to the equivalent percentage, which I can see you have done.

Super Hannah! More success cards to be stamped on Monday, which is a great thing!
Have a go at the extra questions I've asked Rachel (read the comments above your post). Can you solve any?

- = 0.3 = 30% of green bears 1
10 - = 0.1 =10% of yellow bears
