Thanks to the School Council, we were able to see and touch some interesting creatures. As you can see from our faces, we had an interesting (and sometimes scary) time.

It was a really good experience although it was scary when they brought out the tarantular and the big snake however when I stroked the long/tall snake it wasn't that bad it felt like stroking my leather jacket and it wasn't the tallest thing I have ever seen because I have seen you Mr Patterson. Also, the dragon was really cute it felt like stroking a spikey rock but cuter. Another thing, actually people were saying there was going to be a stick insect however I didn't see one. That's, when I saw the tarantular it looked really scary and it's good that Laura didn't get the tarantular out thank you for eating tarantular.

Your comment "thank you for eating tarantula" made me smile Lauren.
There were a lot of nervous looking Year 5's around than moment.
Maybe I should get a large spider or a snake (or perhaps both) as a class pet?
What do we all think?

Welcome to Year 5's blog at Tanfield Lea Community Primary School, a primary school in County Durham who want to broaden our horizons and to show the world what we have to offer.
Our September topic will be 'The Normans', looking at the history of the Norman periods and what we can learn about that time period using primary and secondary sources.
Our literacy will be based on the book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian which takes place during the Second World War.
