Coding with Scratch.

This term, we are going to learn about coding (creating a set of instructions that a computer can follow to complete a task).

Coding is a very important skill that is essential to so many of the things we do in our everyday lives.

We will be using a coding site called 'Scratch':
http://scratch.mit.edu/

Why not play around with Scratch at home and see what you can do? Who knows, one day you could create the next Facebook, make millions with your own games such as Candy Crush or Flappy Bird or work for a games company and be part of huge hits such as Call of Duty and Minecraft.

I also use scratch in school but I haven't used all of the tools so I don't know what everything does. Are you doing any projects with scratch? What?

I like this blog a lot. This year, our teacher also let us use scratch. I do have a question, though: why is scratch so important to teach? How will it help us later on? I also think that scratch is really fun to use for animation, once you understand how to use it properly.

It's lovely to hear that children from other schools also enjoy our blog so thank you for you comments. We are beginning to learn how to code because of how important it will be in the future. So much of our every day lives involve items or objects that need coding. From playing computer games, using your phone, watching tv or crossing the road (with traffic lights). Somebody will need to code the future developments and possibly the next hits like Minecraft. So starting children now means that you are better equipped for what's ahead. And it's great fun too! It's really satisfying to write a chunk of code, test your program and know that all happens because of you!

Scratch is a very fun game. I love the coding part of the game, because you can create your own games and animations. At first, I thought Scratch was just some really boring game that bored people would play. But now once I played, now I know how fun it is. Why is Scratch very important?

Your writing made me think we should use Scratch more often. We only used it once, and that was when we made a Scratch about photosynthesis. We also had an event called hour of code. It is an event when you spend an hour coding your own game. How does using Scratch help you make millions?

At my school we also use scratch. Some of my friends and I are thinking of programing a game called Stick Man. We created 1000 levels and we even made comic books. Were thinking of putting it in the app store. Have you ever programed anything.

I can relate to your opinion about coding being important. There are so many technology companies now, and most likely your job is going to be at one of those companies, where coding is most likely necessary to know. My class has used Scratch before, and it is so much fun! We used the site to create an animation video. What are you going to create with Scratch?

We did a project about photosynthesis earlier this year and we also used other websites but we didn't get to use scratch a lot. There are a lot of people who spend the time to create fun but complicated games.

I think coding is really interesting. I've also used Scratch. However, I mostly like to use solid coding, like "ellipse(10, 10, mouseX, mouseY);". Your blog is really interesting.

When my class experienced with Scratch, we had a little difficulties working with it. Sometimes the coding won't go the way we want it to go, and sometimes the browser isn't working very well. Do you want to create your own game when you grow up?

I sometimes use Scratch in class and it really is sorta fun. I'm not really into coding and all that stuff but Scratch is really fun for me to use. Have you made any games or programs on Scratch?
